We had a great time in Cali, but it's always good to be home. :)
It was a nice drive down...I "manned the wheel" for the first leg of the journey, from 11pm to 6:30am. I drank Mountain Dew Amp (powerful stuff!) and listened to a couple of books on cd while Joe and the kiddos slept. Joe had the pleasure of driving on the 405 through LA. (Ugh...I don't think I have the patience to live there!) Although, we did see Vin Deisel's Mini-Me driving a Porshe...that was kinda cool.
We had a great time visiting with Joe's parents. They took us to a Padres game at the new Petco Park. (nice ball park!) The kids got to run the bases after the game...bonus! The next day we went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It was a warm, but beautiful day. I was intrigued with how vital the park is in revitalizing so many endangered species populations. Our last day in San Diego, was spent at Legoland. Our little (and big) Lego-maniacs had a blast!
Our next stop was the Vandenberg Airforce Base in Lompoc, CA. Joe's brother, Peter, and his family live there. Pete is in Iraq for the next 8 mos (plz keep him in your prayers)...but we had a great time visiting with his wife, Jana, and their beautiful kiddos, Pierson (2) and Aliyah (6 mos). Our kids really bonded with their cousins during our short time in Lompoc...it was a very tearful goodbye for them.
We made our way back up the Left Coast a little more slowly than our trip down, stopping in Sacramento for a good night's rest...and a trip to Hard Rock Cafe, of course. Somebody had to get a "miniature drinking glass" to add to his collection. *grin*
The rest of the drive home was long and uneventful. The latter being a good thing, of course. :) Good trip...fun times...great memories! Check out pix from our vacation on the kids' site.

The 405... aagghhhh... don't remind me. The 91, the 5, the 15, the 57, the horror of it all!
you forgot to mention El Pollo Loco... mmm. Food is always a fun part of a vacation.
Glad to have you back. We'll miss Gus and Crunchy Tim... ok, the kids will anyway.
