Say what??

Preface: Our oldest, Jeremiah, (who is 11 going on 21) has been repeatedly reminding us that he's "a pre-teen", not a "child". We've spent countless hours going around in circles with him about this...partly because it feels like he's growing up too fast, but mostly because we don't feel old enough to have a "pre-teen". Sigh...

Scene from today: One of the many joys of having boys, involves noises coming from various parts of their bodies, at the most inappropriate times...yes, including restaurants. So today at lunch my husband, in all his brilliance, decided to use the whole "preteen" argument to our advantage, explaining to Jeremiah that part of growing up...part of becoming a pre-teen...is to realize that there is a time and a place for such behavior and that during a meal (especially one eaten in public) was not one of those times. Joe quietly ended the conversation with "Let's work on getting through a meal without noises from or discussions about your bodily functions." To which our youngest son says...in a rather loud voice..."Did you say BUTT INFECTIONS???" So much for being discreet.

Thanks for the laughs (and the looks) Lucas...next time, let's use "hushed tones" PLEASE!
