Growing pains...

You know those "trust exercises" you did as a kid? Maybe in school or youth group or maybe you did it just for fun. The most famous one is where you stand in front of someone, cross your arms to your chest and fall back into your trusted friend's arms without bending at the waist or looking over your shoulder? Well...I'm the kid that always bent and looked. No matter how much I trusted the person behind me, my fear of falling (or being dropped) always took over.

Well...I'm going through a "trust exercise" with God right now. He's asking me to trust Him...and instead, I keep bending at the knees. The ridiculous thing is...if you asked me point blank..."Do you trust God?", I would give you a resounding and emphatic "YES!" because I believe that I do. But...when my trust is put to the test, I realize how much I'm still not trusting Him. He must be so frustrated with me, and I can't blame Him, I'M frustrated with me!

I'm thankful for these "teaching moments"...though. I want to learn, to grow and to be the woman He designed me to be.

I'm thankful for the challenge...that's how I know He hasn't given up on me.

This song has been my greatest comfort recently. These words have been my prayer.

At The Foot Of The Cross
by Don Moen

At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received
And You've won my heart
And You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death you bore for me
And You've won my heart
And You've won my heart
Now I can

And You've won my heart
And You've won my heart
Now I can

I lay every burden down
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross
At the foot of the cross
At the foot of the cross

Praying that this trusting time is a growing time for you.

Just now reading this, Missy...

I can so relate...in fact, I could have written this post.
Trust is something I want to do but sometimes comes so hard. But I know God is more patient with us than we are with ourselves- and I'm so thankful!
