A blessing in disguise...

We woke up at the "butt-crack" of dawn this morning, all packed and ready to go skiing. Five minutes before we are supposed to walk out the door, Lucas calls to me from the bathroom in tears...he's sick. We did the stomach flu thing with Michaella earlier in the week and it was not pretty. So...after cleaning him up...we sat on the floor in the bathroom where he just sobbed and pleaded with me to let him go skiing. "But Mooommm....!" Poor guy...he was soooo looking forward to this ski trip with Aunt Kate, Grandma Claire and Grandpa John.

Michaella, who is over the stomach flu but still not eating much or feeling well, also stayed home. And of course, Grandma & Grandpa stayed home to keep us company. They were so sweet and offered to stay home with my sick kiddos so I could go skiing with Joe, Kate and Jay...but the mom in me wouldn't have enjoyed being 2 hours away with no way to keep in touch. So...I gladly stayed home, too.

We watched a couple of movies with Grandma while Grandpa napped and then Kaylie and Grandma played a couple rounds of Sorry while Lucas and I spent some quality time together in the bathroom. Now they're both sound asleep on the couch...Kaylie, in Grandpa's arms and Lucas is all bundled up next to Grandma.

And...for the first Sunday this entire season...I am watching football. As much as I enjoy skiing...this has turned out to be exactly what I needed. We have just been going and going...and a day at home (and football, of course) is just what the doctor ordered!

Sorry to hear that you didn't get to ski today, but glad to hear that it was a much needed rest for you.

Now...are you gonna start doin' the Super Bowl Suffle? Da Bears!

Missy... oh, I thought of you guys all day yesterday, wondering how you all were enjoying the slopes! I'm sorry Lucas was sick! I didn't know Kalie had just gotten over it...those things are no fun at all!
But...I think I know what you mean about just relaxing at home for a change!
For me, it would have been a good chickflick...for you, it was football! :)
