Welcome Back...

I couldn't be happier. Boston's going to bring back Schilling for his last year as a pro-ball player. I have so much respect for this man. He exhibits integrity on and off the field.

He is a Christian, a husband and a father of four. He and his wife have an organization that raises money for ALS research, as a family they are involved in many charities and volunteer a great deal of their time. A person with the money and influence that he has, has the ability and, I believe, the responsibility to do so. He is, what I consider, an All-American hero.

On the field, he is a workhorse. He went 21-6 in 2004, leading us to our first World Series win in 84 years. In 2007, his velocity diminished, but he was remarkable during the playoffs, bringing his postseason record to 11-2. When it really counts, Schilling comes through. Sure, his age and physical condition is of some concern, I believe he is the right man for the job and will rise to the occasion, as always.

Glad to have you back, Mr. Schilling. Red Sox Nation is proud to have you for your final year of baseball!
