Happy Birthday Layne-bug!!
This cake presented a few challenges, but it was fun! This is the first one that Stacey, my new "hobby partner" (future business partner), and I worked on together...and I must say, it was really nice! She did all the hard work...baking the cake in the different shaped pans necessary to make the ladybug shape...from scratch!! And, it was SO moist!! It made my job SO much easier! You rock, Stace!!
This was my first time making fondant, and while it was a little labor intensive, it came out well...and I enjoyed the challenge. Each cake I decorate builds my confidence a little more, but it also makes me realize how much I still have to learn. I'm hoping to finally take a class or do a workshop (in my spare time....ha ha ha), but the earliest that'll happen will be January. In the meantime, I'll continue learning through trial and error.
We have another project coming up next week, and one the week after. And, then I have a couple Christmas-y ideas I'd like to attempt.
So, stay tuned...

Mis, you give me way too much credit! You, by far, have the difficult part of the job. The cake looks incredible!!! I'm glad we can partner in this together! You rock even more :)
Very, very cute!
This is Stacey's sister-in-law reporting in to say I think you both rock! I'm thankful on so many levels...for your friendship, for this creative outlet, and for your courage in embracing this new adventure. Hope this new endeavor is successful in every way!
Congratulations to both of you! ~ Nikki
